Dear SOON(ER) to be traveler,
If you are looking for a nice, quiet dinner with an authentic Italian meal that’s on the voucher list, then be sure to check out Tortello Divino.
The restaurant overlooks Piazza della Badia, which is just a block from the center of Arezzo. The outside seating is perfect for a warm summer evening, or there is indoor seating if you prefer air conditioning. Upon entering the restaurant, you are immediately greeted by a very welcoming staff, and your eyes instantly notice the simple, yellow and white table cloth on the wooden tables.
Once you are seated, you are brought a bag of fresh bread. The bread is traditional Tuscany bread, which is very different from bread back home. Personally, I was not a fan of the bread right away, since it was made with salt-free dough. At first I thought the bread lacked flavor but after having a few bites, I grew to like the bland taste.
When ordering from the voucher menu, you are given the choice of one main course and a dessert. There are a total of 10 different pasta dishes for the meal and a few different desserts to choose from, which are all fantastic.

For my main course, I ordered the Tortelli di burrata con pomodorini e basilico, which is
ravioli filled with melted cheese and topped with fresh cut tomatoes and basil. The tomatoes and basil add a pleasant pop of color to the golden pasta. The ravioli was freshly made and touches the tongue like a cushiony pillow. The ratio of pasta and cheese is spot on. The scarlet red tomatoes on top of the ravioli blend nicely and are rich with flavor. Overall, I would rate this course nine out of 10.
After finishing your plate of carbs, you may worry there would be no room for dessert. Lucky for you the pasta in Italy is much lighter and leaves you plenty of room for a delightful dessert. My must-tries are Tortello Nero cioccolato e mascarpone cake and the dessert of the day, which was described as similar to cheesecake.

The Tortello Nero cioccolato e mascarpone cake is a chocolate cake with a chocolate filling inside topped with a powder sugar. This was the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had and reminded me of a chocolate cake at The Cheesecake Factory. The rich dessert melted in your mouth and left you wanting more. It was the perfect ending to such a great meal. I would rate this a 10 out of 10.

The other dessert option that I tried was their cheesecake, which was not like an American cheesecake. It’s served in a small bowl and has a crumble crust on the bottom, creamy cheesecake filling in the middle and is topped with more crumbled crust and a light red, syrup-like sauce that tastes somewhat like a cherry. The mixture of the sauce, crust and filling was a sweet end to the meal. I would rate this dessert a 9.5 out of 10.
All in all, Tortello Divino is one of my favorite restaurants in Arezzo and is the perfect spot for a peaceful dinner.
Tortello Divino Rating: 9.75 out of 10
