Life's a Peach (Bellini)

As the sun begins to set in Arezzo, the most refreshing drink that comes to mind is the Peach Bellini.

Coming to Italy, I was excited to try all sorts of classic Italian cocktails. In Arezzo, there are no limitations when it comes to ordering such specialties. Ordering new drinks can be intimidating since I don’t usually like to step out of my comfort zone, but in this case, it was the best choice I’ve made! So if you’re looking for a new and delicious drink, I have the perfect one for you.

The Peach Bellini is a popular cocktail in Italy that originated in Venice. The Bellini is made with fresh French peach puree and Italian Processo. The bartenders stir the ingredients together, leaving you with the perfect cocktail.

On one of my first nights in Arezzo, a group of us went to OU students’ favorite bar and restaurant: Dirty Rat. I was overwhelmed by numerous options on the drink menu and had no idea where to begin. I asked the bartender to surprise me with a drink based on some of the ingredients I told him I liked. He came back with an orange drink in a wine glass that looked like a mimosa but was something even more delicious than I could’ve imagined.

I could immediately taste the French peach puree and the most delicious Italian Processo I have ever had. It left the most delicious taste in my mouth that I will never forget.

The Peach Bellini quickly became a fan favorite amongst my friends. As I continue to try new drinks, I always find myself going back to the Peach Bellini. Not only will I continue to order this drink in Arezzo, but all around Italy and back home.

As I write this, I can taste the fresh peach and lively bubbles blending in my mouth. As I seek the next opportunity, I can savor each refreshing sip making me miss it already.
